BIO

I got interested in Chinese medicine while practicing Chinese martial arts. I began learning the Shaolin art of Hung Ga (Hung Family Shaolin) in 1985. At the time, my teacher was partners with another person who treated patients for musculoskeletal problems. In due course, I learned many formulas for the treatment of musculoskeletal problems from my Hung Ga sifu. After becoming an Sifu of the Hung Ga style myself, I became interested in the Taoist arts of Xing Yi Quan (Form-Will Boxing) and Ba Gua Zhang (Eight Trigram Palm). I trained in these arts from 1989-1991 and from 1995-2001. I have been an instructor in Ba Gua and Xing Yi  since 2001.  I studied Tui Na (Chinese Medical Bodywork) and Zheng Gu (mobilization techniques) beginning in 1995 with my Ba Gua and Xing Yi teacher, who was himself an acupuncturist and herbalist.  Later, I undertook a formal education in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine, graduating from the Touro College Graduate Program in Oriental medicine, earning a second bachelors degree in Health Sciences and a Masters degree in Oriental medicine. I have been in practice since 2005. Though I am a general practitioner and continue to take internal medicine cases, I have particular expertise treating injuries, musculoskeletal conditions and managing pain.

In addition to my clinical work, I taught Tui Na in the Touro College Graduate program in Oriental medicine for three years beginning in my final year of training. Since 2008, I have been on the faculty at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine teaching Tui Na and Qigong.
